amazon.com:
This series is ideal for any course that includes desktop publishing and/or web design software applications as well as web scripting languages. Courses can be found in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, and Fine Arts Departments, as well as Continuing Education, and Journalism. The Essentials series by Prentice Hall is based on a learning-by-doing approach that encourages students to grasp application related concepts as they expand their skills through hands-on tutorials. Now a part of the Essentials series, Prentice Hall’s Essentials Graphic Design titles offer a clean, easy-to-follow, full color layout with two different levels available. Instructor Resource CD-ROMs include assessments, PowerPoint presentation materials, and additional projects.

Bad experience!

I paid extra to get rush delivery, but later was told by the vendor that they dont do rush deliveries and have yet to be refunded for the extra money i paid. It took close to 3 weeks for me to finally get the book. Also i was told that the book was "like new" condition, however it was not! Very dissatisfied with the service.
Excellent

I used this book for my XHTML class and the exercises were fantastic. Conformed with HTML 4 and XHTML 1.1 standards, and showed validation for all "flavors".
Good book

Detailed. Gave a good overview and examples of XHTML and the different versions used. I like the design tips and extra projects.
Slick (like slime)

Should never have been published, especially for over $40. One of THE most technically inaccurate books about xhtml I have ever seen. The author really doesn’t know xhtml. She purports to be teaching you xhtml 1.1 but her scripts do not follow the xhtml 1.1 standards at all. Try validating any of them at w3.org and you’ll get so many errors it’ll make your head spin.
